Another example of "VOTE BANK" POLITICS

The Constitution (108th Amendment) Bill was pushed by the government after two days of high drama which saw the suspension of seven MPs and the RJD and SP threatening withdrawal of support. The Bill was passed by over two-third majority.
After President Pratibha Patil declared that the passage of the Women’s Reservation Bill in the parliament is among the top ten priorities of Prime Minister Manamohan Singh’s government, women politicians are hopeful that their 14-year-old demand will be fulfilled soon.

“The manifestos of many political parties talk about women empowerment. Especially the Congress Party has it in their manifesto. It is in the 100 days agenda of the party so it has to be fulfilled,” Girija Vyas said.

The SP and RJD, whose members created unruly scenes in Lok Sabha and forced adjournments, decided to move a no-confidence motion against the government as early as tomorrow.
Opponents argue that reservation would only help women of elitist groups gain political power, aggravating the plight of the poor and deprived sections.

This is not the topic of the post. ‘Cause they are the “politicians” and this is their job to “politicize” things. I mean simple things. This is the power game. They know the trick very well. There is no end of the argument.

I have been thinking something…..It took 42 years to give a position to a woman in the CPI (M) Politburo. In between long 42 years, no one in that party thought for once that a woman deserved that. There is a number of women, whose contribution was not less than any man in the politburo. Finally the door opened for Mrs. Vrinda Karat, the wife of the CPI(M)politburo chief Mr. Prakash Karat. How she secured her position there, lagging behind the others, I don’t think that I need to tell you. Every one knows that.

When RJD chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav was going to jail being accused of the “Fodder scam case”, he gave the crown to his wife, Rabri Devi.
It was RJD chief’s helplessness that he had to hand over the power to her. But the remote control was still in his hand. His wife was just a “puppet”. RJD claims that there is no similarity of ethics between them and the “Lefts”. But their opinion is almost the same in this respect, I mean the “women reservation bill”.
If we take Vrinda, Rabri, Indira Gandhi, Prativa patil or Meera kumar aside, there are a million of women are struggling for survival.

Either in a town or village or cities, nothing has changed. The scenario is still the same. Being a woman, I’d like to say about the reservation that in the 62 years of the independence the government and the society as well have failed to do the proper justice with the women.
People are asking me, what is my opinion about the bill. Frankly speaking, I don’t care what others are saying on the “bill” issue, but I’m always against of any kind of “reservation”. In my personal opinion, “reservation” is the way to snatch the right of a deserving person. I should be happy or I should say that “the bill” is an approach to the “betterment” or “empowerment” of women. Not at all. Why? ‘Cause there is not just one but a number of problems do exist. Women can secure their positions in the top posts, get more jobs or can be self sufficient after the approval of the bill. That’s a good thing. But we also can’t deny the gender discrimination and sometime sexual exploitation cases in the work field. One of my cousins, an MBAan, quit her job when her senior gave her an “indecent proposal”. Ample of examples can be given like this.

Can this bill eradicate the entire problem?
I think some strong measures should be taken based on the women related issues. I think some better laws and provisions should be made.

Moral of the story, not a bad bill but this is an another example of “VOTE BANK POLITICS”.
